The evolution of the social value of Intellectual Property (IP) was identified as a key longer-term trend for IP as part of an extensive horizon scanning exercise by the IPO in 2021. As part of work on the implications of the changing views and needs of society in respect of IP, the IPO commissioned independent research on the Emerging public perceptions of intellectual property and specifically the presentation of IP in the UK media. This report was delivered by Dr Hayleigh Bosher, Reader at Brunel University London, on behalf of the Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

Findings and opinions are those of the researchers, not necessarily the views of the IPO or the government
