This guidance helps you check if a role is eligible for a Standard DBS check. It covers roles that are only eligible on entry to certain professions, judicial and court-based roles, and other roles eligible for this check. It applies whether the role is paid or unpaid.
Some roles may also be eligible for an Enhanced DBS check. If you’re not sure which level of check applies, check the relevant Enhanced eligibility guidance for children, adults or the ‘Other’ workforce before selecting a Standard check.
