1. Information: funding of legacy GCSEs in English, English language and mathematics in 2016 to 2017

We have published information about how we will fund legacy GCSEs in English, English language and mathematics in the academic year 2016 to 2017 on GOV.UK. This follows Ofqual’s announcement about these qualifications being available for resits in November 2016 and for the last time in summer 2017.

Further information on qualifications and eligibility for public funding is available on GOV.UK.

If you have any queries, please contact us via our online form.

2. Information: revised guidance on keeping children safe in education

The Department for Education (DfE) has published its response to the consultation on keeping children safe in education which concluded on 16 February 2016.

DfE has also published revised guidance on keeping children safe in education following the consultation. The guidance will come into effect on Monday 5 September 2016.

Schools and colleges should continue to use the existing keeping children safe in education (July 2015) guidance until then.

3. Information: local authority Section 251 outturn 2015 to 2016

The Department for Education (DfE) requires local authorities (LA) to submit their outturn statements for 2015 to 2016 by 25 August 2016.

We have now published Section 251 outturn guidance for local authorities. This explains how LAs record their total dedicated schools grant (DSG) actual expenditure and any other non-statutory DSG actual expenditure.

LAs submit their outturn statements using COLLECT, DfE’s data collection and management system for education. We will open COLLECT in early July and confirm this in an item in this e-bulletin.
