1. Information: new Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) launched

A new Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) which replaces the Building Condition Improvement Fund (BCIF) and the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund (ACMF) has been launched.

The programme is aimed at open academies, those with academy orders signed on or before 1 November 2014 and sixth-form colleges.

Further information about the new fund is available now.

2. Action: local authorities - submit your grant returns by 31 October

Local authorities are required to submit grant returns and use of funds statements for 2013 to 2014 to EFA by 31 October 2014.

We have published guidance online and issued specific use of funds statements to each local authority.

The returns should be certified by the local authority’s chief financial officer (CFO) and emailed as PDFs to the email address below by the deadline:

3. Information: how to return ILR final funding claims for 2013 to 2014

All EFA final funding claim returns should be run from your final Individualised Learner Record (ILR) R14 submission for 2013 to 2014. Please see the previous e-bulletin article on returning final ILR R14 data.

The EFA has simplified this return for 2013 to 2014 by including the required declaration on the final page of the Funding Implementation Service (FIS) EFA funding claim report. Institutions that make ILR returns should use the Document Exchange to return a PDF copy of the completed signed report.

Please read the technical advice on the webpage before submitting the return through Document Exchange.

Later this year the EFA will issue funding reconciliation statements confirming the outturn funding values for all ILR returns.
