The Department for International Trade (DIT) issued decisions on two applications submitted under the business appointment rules for the period April to June 2022.

William Sweet

Title of former Civil Service role: Special Adviser

Date left or retired from the Civil Service: 7 June 2022

New employer: Global Counsel

New appointment / employment (including when taken up): Practice Lead - 18 July 2022

Department’s decision on application (including details of any waiting period or other conditions or restrictions applied) requires that William Sweet must:

  • not draw upon any privileged information from his time in the Department for International Trade
  • refrain from lobbying government or its ministers on behalf of the new employer for 2 years after his last day of service

Gavin Winbanks

Title of former Civil Service role: Director

Date left or retired from the Civil Service: 14 January 2022

New employer: Consultancy - White Hawk Green

New appointment / employment (including when taken up): Consultant - 1 June 2022

Departments’ decision on application (including details of any waiting period or other conditions or restrictions applied) requires that Gavin must:

  • not become personally involved in lobbying the UK government directly for financial support for any client for 2 years from the last day of service
  • identify himself as a former Civil Servant, should he contact any government official
  • not draw on privileged information available to him from his time in Crown service
