In February 2019, the government published a new direction to the regulator of social housing to set a standard on rents for registered providers of social housing (including local authorities), to come into effect on 1 April 2020.

This direction applies to standards set by the social housing regulator in relation to rent for registered providers from 1 April 2015.

This direction replaces the direction on rent to the regulator issued in March 2012.
