1. Our Purpose

The Digital, Information and Technology Team is at the heart of our organisation working hard to make DBS become the best digital shared service centre in the UK Public Sector.

Our goal is to make the best use of modern digital, data and technology to deliver a great user experience to our MOD professional users, civil servants, military personnel and external users ranging from service veterans to our supplier chain.

1.1 Services we deliver

We provide a number of important services which are crucial for DBS and MOD to function effectively.

Our key services are:

  • Automation Services
  • Enterprise Architecture
  • Change Delivery
  • Data Analysis and Insights
  • IT Service Management
  • Cyber Security
  • Contract Management
  • Knowledge, Information & Business Management

1.2 Our stakeholders:

We work closely with the following in our role:

  • Other government departments, including Cabinet office
  • Third party contractors providing specialist services
  • Functions within DBS and MOD teams
  • Data protection and security of information bodies

1.3 Our current challenges:

We are working on lots of fronts to improve the delivery and effectiveness of information and digital technology within DBS.

Day to day we:

  • Continue to build capability to meet elevated levels of business demand
  • Deliver a high-quality service each day whilst continuously transforming
  • Being innovative whilst working in a highly secure environment
  • Getting the best value from our supply chain
  • Driving insights from the vast amounts of data we hold

Ongoing programmes and projects we are continuously developing and working on include:

  • Moving our HR, Pay and Finance IT landscape into the MOD Cloud
  • Maintaining IT Live Service coverage for our systems and applications
  • Growing our Digital and Automation services across Military and Veterans services
  • Delivering change requirements such as making annual pay awards.
  • Management of the DBS corporate dashboards which enable performance tracking
  • Building our cyber security capability and capacity
  • Building and trialling capability management, job families and career pathways
  • Implementing an Application Programming Interface management layer
  • Building whole life architecture capability
