Oak National Academy: chair
Chair term extension
Sir Ian Bauckham’s term as Chair of Oak National Academy has been extended. He will serve from 1 September 2026 until 9 October 2026.
Remuneration is £500 per day for an average time commitment of one day per week.
Sir Ian has declared the following interest: he is Chief Regulator of the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
He has not declared any political activity.
Oak National Academy was established as a non-departmental public body (NDPB) on 1 September 2022. Oak works with teachers across the country, giving them and their pupils access to free, optional, and adaptable high-quality digital curriculum resources. Oak aims to support teachers to improve curriculum delivery, reduce workload, and support improved pupil outcomes. It also continues to provide a national remote education contingency.
The appointment is made by the Secretary of State for Education.
Chair appointment
Tom Campbell has been appointed to serve as Chair of Oak National Academy. He will serve from 9 October 2026 for a period of 3 years. Remuneration is £500 per day for an average time commitment of one day per week.
Tom has not declared any political activity but during the appointment process he declared that he sat on the Board of Olex.AI. The Permanent Secretary at the Department for Education (DfE) approved the appointment on the basis that he resigns from the Olex.AI Board as part of agreed mitigations.
The appointment is made by the Secretary of State for Education.

Deputy Further Education Commissioner
Becky Edwards has been reappointed as Deputy Further Education Commissioner from 1 September 2026 for a period of 3 years.
Remuneration is £700 per day for an estimated time commitment of up to 200 days per year.
Becky has not declared any:
- interests
- political activity
Deputy Further Education Commissioners work with further education colleges to improve their quality and financial resilience. The reappointment is made by the Secretary of State for Education.

Ofsted: board members
Jon Yates and Joanne Moran have been reappointed as board members for the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) for 4 years from 1 August 2026.
Remuneration is £8,282 per annum for an estimated time commitment of 20 days.
Jon Yates has declared the following interests:
- CEO of the Youth Endowment Fund
- Advisory Board Member of the Children’s Commissioner
- Trustee of UK Youth
Joanne Moran has declared the following interests:
- Board Member of Dolphin Housing (Housing Association)
