1. Exhibition support
Support offered by Department for International Trade Defence and Security Organisation (DIT DSO) at exhibitions, where appropriate includes:
- government-to-government relationships
- UK VIP programmes
- delegation management (targeted audience)
- military/security/cyber adviser(s)
- bilateral meetings
- government stand utilising high quality build
- strong UK brand
- UK speakers at selected conferences
- marketing package, which may include:
- presentations on capability or equipment
- inclusion into DIT DSO corporate video loop
Specifically companies can participate on DIT DSO stands through the following methods:
1.1 Exhibition booth/pod system
At certain exhibitions, DIT DSO will offer companies the opportunity to exhibit as part of a DIT DSO organised UK pavilion. Main benefits of co-locating with DIT DSO are:
- exhibiting under clear UK/HMG branding
- more cost effective in terms of stand space
- senior delegations booked to attend the stand and spend time with companies
- benefit from government-to-government relationships
- DIT DSO staff on stand alongside your company representatives
- enhanced marketing before and during the event
- access to meeting room and on stand refreshments
The pod system typically comprises of 4 square meters of space, a modular stand system plus flooring; power socket; track lighting; 1 x lockable cupboard; 1 x stool; 1 x fascia panel (company name); 1 x graphic panel; meeting/hospitality room; refreshments; internet access; catalogue entry; 2 x passes per company.
Cost is variable depending on the exhibition.
1.2 DIT DSO Export Support Team (EST) display area
Dependent upon DIT DSO exhibition objectives, an Export Support Team display area maybe included on the exhibition stand. Space and appropriate build with power is provided to display a range of UK capabilities and equipment as part of an agreed theme on the DIT DSO exhibition stand. A suitable receptacle for marketing literature is also included.
Cost based upon the amount of equipment displayed.
1.3 Free build
DIT DSO can provide free build space for companies within a DIT DSO organised stand, subject to approval and availability.
Costs will be dependent on organiser space costs.
1.4 Video package
At certain exhibitions, DIT DSO will offer companies the opportunity to include video footage of their capabilities or equipment within the audio-visual package on the stand. This footage, subject to prior approval, will be incorporated within the video loop on the stand.

3. DIT DSO Export Support Team (EST)
The EST comprises of serving military personnel with a wide range of expertise. EST is staffed by regular officers and soldiers, from the British Army. It includes members of the Royal Artillery, the Royal Armoured Corps, the Royal Engineers and the Infantry, who collectively possess a wealth of knowledge and experience both in training and on operations. The EST is a unique and intrinsic part of the DIT DSO.
The purpose of EST is to provide specialist military services and advice to legitimate UK defence and security companies in order to help them succeed in the export market.
The services the EST can provide:
- support at exhibitions including ‘man on stand’
- impartial military advice
- assisting with promotional material, by participating in photographic and video shoots
- demonstrations and presentations (home and abroad)
- hosting visits (foreign delegations)
- after sales training and support

There are standard charges applicable to EST services. A detailed estimate of costs will be provided in response to requests for assistance.
The EST are co located with regular British Army units where they can arrange access to training grounds, including:
- an all weather cross country driving area
- ranges for gunnery and live firing purposes
These along with other areas and ranges throughout the UK can be used for product evaluations and demonstrations.

4. Media support
DIT DSO has a dedicated senior press officer who can help with UK companies attending exhibitions. This includes liaison with international, national and specialist media attending an event. Support will be provided onsite and remotely based on availability.

5. Defence and Security Industry Days (DSID)
UK companies can display their products on board a Royal Navy warship on Defence and Security Industry Days. Reception and catering is provided. The service costs £2,000 VAT inclusive.
You can also request a private company visit which provides a similar event on a Royal Navy warship for up to 3 companies, without the reception or catering. The service costs up to £2,000 VAT inclusive per company.

6. Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) networking events
DIT DSO’s Small Business Unit provides and supports a wide range of events and activities designed to help UK small and medium-sized enterprises win overseas defence and security business.
regular networking sessions at Farnborough International Air Show and DSEI, which introduce UK SMEs to important overseas government, military and industrial procurement officials
supply chain events which give UK SMEs the opportunity to discuss their goods and services with leading UK and overseas prime contractors
regularly organising and attending UK conferences and seminars, to promote DIT DSO’s support and services
