1. Overall Objective for the Qualification
On successful completion of this qualification, learners will have developed the knowledge, skills and occupational competence required to plan, design, install, test, commission, maintain and supervise electrotechnical systems within a range of engineering environments.
Learners will be able to apply relevant electrical engineering principles, technical knowledge, regulatory requirements, industry standards and safe systems of work to undertake electrotechnical activities effectively and safely. They will be able to interpret technical information, analyse operational and infrastructure requirements, select appropriate methods and resources, and apply their knowledge and skills to the delivery of compliant electrical solutions. Learners will also be able to identify and respond to technical and operational issues, undertake testing and commissioning activities, and contribute to the safe, effective and compliant operation and maintenance of electrotechnical systems
2. Pre-entry requirements
Minimum educational standard of three Grade 5 GCSE passes in Maths, English Language and Science or Technology. Trainees’ must complete Basic Training (BT) and Initial Trade Training (ITT) (Combat Engineer Class 2) training prior to attendance. Learners must have also successfully completed the ME (Electrician) 0-2 course.
Trainees are to hold a security clearance to at least Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) prior to attending the ME (Electrician) Class 1 requirements course.
