All local transport authorities (LTAs) in England need to publish a bus passenger charter, which gives bus users rights to certain standards of service relating to:
- bus service reliability and punctuality
- vehicle cleanliness
- information provision
- handling complaints
The charters have to be published as part of an authority’s bus service improvement plan.
