Given the rapidly evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of lockdown and other government measures on young people and parents or guardians, the Department for Education (DfE) commissioned 2 waves of fast turnaround surveys to help address gaps in evidence on how the pandemic affected these groups.
The surveys were not intended to be comprehensive of all issues facing young people during lockdown, but provided immediate information to inform government decision-making.
Findings from these surveys were used alongside many other sources of information.
