Details

The Government has set out the need for greater transparency across its operations to enable the public to hold public bodies and politicians to account. This includes commitments relating to public expenditure, intended to help achieve better value for money.

As part of the transparency agenda, all new central Government tenders and contracts over £10,000 are to be published from January 2011. Details of opportunities are published in a single location called Contracts Finder. Contracts Finder is the main source of Government contracting opportunities.

The Department is going further by publishing our contracts with a value of more than £500. As an initial step we are publishing data for July and August 2012 using purchase order detail for our low value procurements supplemented by additional documentation, where available. See the related downloads section below.

Going forward we will be publishing further low value information here each month, but with a longer term aim of adding the over £500 contract documentation to central Contracts Finder portal by the end of January 2013.

All organisations looking to bid for public sector contracts should be aware that if they are awarded a new Government contract, the resulting contract between the supplier and Government will be published. In some circumstances, limited redactions will be made to some contracts before they are published in order to comply with existing law.
