This research paper provides an overview of the UK construction supply chain. The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills commissioned it to inform the Industrial Strategy for Construction.

Based on detailed analysis and interviews with contractors and suppliers, the study identified:

  • areas where cost savings could be made
  • barriers to achieving these savings

The study makes recommendations on how the government and industry could jointly improve the UK construction sector’s performance and competitiveness.
