The Environment Agency consulted on this proposal for change between 13 July 2015 and 16 August 2015.

The Environment Agency proposes to change the existing main river map at Congresbury Yeo, Congresbury, North Somerset.

It proposes the change as a ‘determination’ under section 193C(1) of the Water Resources Act 1991. A determination is a formal decision to change the main river map.

The proposed determination is that the Congresbury Yeo between national grid reference (NGR) ST 44187 63509 and NGR ST 44081 63679 which is shown as a ‘deletion’ on the main river consultation map, is no longer to be treated as part of a main river.

The culverted section of river has been removed due to development. The existing mill pond has been incorporated into a wetland area as part of the development site.

The change would mean that the map would reflect the fact that the watercourse no longer exists. It does not change who has power to carry out flood risk management work on the watercourse.

1. How to view the proposed changes

You can see the proposals on the main river consultation map. The green line (‘addition’) on the map is the proposed new line to show the correct position of the watercourse. The red line (‘deletion’) is the incorrect line, which would be deleted.
