Following a Communications Review in 2011, the Wales Office has sought to reshape the former Press Office function into a new Communications function now encompassing press enquiries, visits, stakeholder engagement and events. As a result the headcount has adjusted to reflect the greater work of this section of the office. However through efficiencies found through recruiting staff to match the new skills sets required the cost of running the Communications Team of six is broadly in line with that of the old Press Office team of three.
*This does not include the cost of one of the AIOs, who had only just been appointed, nor a Grade 7 on maternity leave whose post is being filled by a fixed term appointee at the same grade
