We have received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:

Disclosure of all notes of Home Office training and guidance to the Police as to section 19 closure notices, and any powers of closure or arrest consequent thereon and any amendments or corrections thereto.

We released the following information on 30 June 2011.

PDF documents are attached for the following documents:

• PowerPoint slides used by Walker Morris, the Home Office’s training providers.  Slides from training delivered during the Wakefield intensive support visit (ISV) in February 2011 are annexed.  Since the training is constantly being evaluated and developed, annexed are slides used at the most recent ISV in Luton (18-20 May 2011) to illustrate what is currently delivered.

• Reports on 15 Home Office intensive support visits, including Wakefield in February 2011.

• 10 e-mails from the Home Office to various police forces providing guidance on section 19 notices.

• A document setting out the Home Office position on section 19 notices.

The Home Office has also published The Practical Guide for Preventing and Dealing with Alcohol Related Problems.  This document was published on the internet, but was withdrawn after errors in the guidance were discovered.  This has also been included for information (hard copy only). If you would like to request a copy please contact the Information Services Centre on 020 7035 6699.

Please see the attached PDF documents for full details.
