Civil Service Pension Recovery Plan Update - 8 April 2026

Updated 8 April 2026

The Civil Service Pensions Taskforce, in partnership with its administrator, Capita, is determined to restore full service as quickly as possible. Service restoration continues at pace, with a concentrated effort to meet key milestones for pension quotes.

Capita Annual Benefits Statement incident

At the end of last week, Capita provided an update about a data incident which occurred when loading the 2024/25 Annual Benefit Statements (ABS) to the member portal. On Monday 30 March 2026, a technical fault occurred and as a result, a small number of scheme members were able to view or download the Annual Benefit Statements belonging to others. Please see Capita’s update for further details.

We take this issue extremely seriously. While only a very small number of members were affected, we are working with Capita to establish the facts and ensure appropriate measures are taken.

Capita has written to the 138 members and if you have not received correspondence from Capita, your data was not impacted in any way.

The ABS interface will remain offline until the root cause is fully resolved. In the meantime, if you need an urgent copy of your 2024/25 ABS, please contact Capita by submitting a request via the contact us form on the website, contact us from the portal or by calling 0300 123 6666.

Pension quotes

Overall service restoration is progressing, and the focus remains on meeting Capita’s plans to restore service levels by the end of June. Capita is on target to contact members who requested a pension quotation before December 1, 2025, by Friday, April 10, to confirm their intent to retire and gather necessary information. Quote delivery is currently concentrated on pre-1st December requests.

Call volume

Call volumes increased at the end of March, which had an impact on wait times, although they still remain below 10 minutes on average. Additional surge resources will be retained as the overall service transitions to a position of long term stability.

Pensions Increase

Pensions in payment remains stable and the scheme is distributing the 2026 Pension Increase mailing which includes pensioner payslips and P60s to approximately 730,000 pensioners.
