Civil Service Pension Recovery Plan Update - 29 June 2026
Updated 29 June 2026
Activities are continuing to resolve the service delays affecting the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
Retirement quotations
Quotations continue to be issued for active and deferred members wanting to take their full or partial retirement benefits. Capita and employers are working to ensure the data used is correct.
A ‘Quotes Hub’ is live on the CS Pensions website to help answer common questions.
Quotations are issued 2nd Class via Royal Mail, those posted on 30 June will arrive in early July. Read taskforce update #10 on the Civil Service Pensions website for full information.
Contact centre
The average call waiting time to 19 June has reduced to 4 minutes.
Pension payments
377 retirement cases who returned completed paperwork prior to 30 May should have their pensions put into payment by the end of June.
Capita has requested further information from approximately 1000 members, once received and checked, Capita will also put these pensions into payment.
Pension arrears
Members are asked to refer to the HMRC supplied factsheet in the Recovery Plan Updates section of the Civil Service Pensions website as there may be tax implications for those receiving pension arrears.
Bereavements
There are currently 3,387 cases where Capita is waiting for families to return information to enable pensions to be put into payment.
Death in Service and Ill Health Retirement cases
Capita and the recovery team are tracking all older cases individually as they require an element of hypercare.
The next update on 3 July will outline the end of June position.
