Cemex UK Materials Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the Carboniferous Limestone at Dove Holes Quarry, Buxton between National Grid References (NGRs) SK 09032 79471, SK 09641 78459, SK 08940 77195 and SK 07981 78287 to transfer it to the Carboniferous Limestone via boreholes at NGRs SK 10179 79007, SK 10172 79008 and SK 09894 77848 without intervening use, and to an unnamed stream at National Grid Reference SK 09147 76876 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 605 cubic metres an hour

  • 14,502 cubic metres a day

  • 5,293,376 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
