Huambo-Lomaum Transmission Line and Associated Substations Project, Angola.
2. Description of project
The Project extends across seven municipalities in Huambo and Benguela provinces and includes the design, construction and assembly of 163km of 220kV overhead transmission line, with associated new substation in Lomaum and expansion of the substation at Lomaum Hydroelectric Plant.
The Project is aligned with the Government of Angola’s 2018-2022 National Development Plan to increase access to, and more evenly distribute, electricity at the national level. The Project will help to evacuate power generated by the Laúca Hydroelectric Plant, connect the western and southern electricity transmission networks and facilitate eventual distribution of renewable electricity in Benguela Province.
