This document contains the following information: Care Quality Commission annual report and accounts for 2008 to 2009 (for the period 1 October 2008 to 31 March 2009).

The Care Quality Commission was established on 1 October 2008 and from 1 April 2009 became responsible for the registration, review and inspection of health and adult social care services and to monitor the operation of the Mental Health Act in England.

It was formed from the Commission for Social Care Inspection, the Healthcare Commission and the Mental Health Act Commission.

This paper was laid before Parliament in response to a legislative requirement or as a Return to an Address and was ordered to be printed by the House of Commons.
