Details of the application

Canal and River Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Aire and Calder catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 1,390.6 litres per second
  • 5,006 cubic metres an hour
  • 120,139 cubic metres a day
  • 2,786,821 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • at National Grid Reference (NGR) SE 06920 14330 and SE 07536 14207
  • from abstraction location Slaithwaite Reservoir Feeder, Yorkshire.

The water will be used for Transfer for the purpose of navigation authority functions.
