We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
‘We understand that the new contract for the management of Campsfield House Removal Centre, based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, has been awarded to the American company, the GEO Group. We have learned this from the current management of the centre. It is confirmed by the GEO Group’s own press releases, and commercial news releases on the matter. The contract is due to commence on the 28 May 2006.
We are requesting a full statement from IND/The Home Office outlining the factual situation regarding the future management of Campsfield House, details of the public tendering process, and briefing as to the basis on which the decision was taken to award the contract to the GEO Group.’
