The statement of intent sets out how locally collected business rates will be shared between central and local government. It details the grants from central government to local authorities that will be included within the rates retention scheme. It states that government does not intend to reset the system until 2020 at the earliest, except in exceptional circumstances.
Please note: An update to the statement of intent on the central and local shares of business rates (at Annex A, footnote 6) was made on 13 June 2012.
