Brownfield Associates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to renew on different terms a variation to licence serial number 7/35/02/*G/0133 which authorises the abstraction of groundwater from sand and gravel at Blythburgh, Suffolk.
The existing time-limited variation authorises water abstraction using 3 boreholes for the purpose of commercial: general use associated with public events and festivals at National Grid References TM 44790 77490, TM 45260 77180 and TM 44851 77554 at the total volumes as follows:

30 cubic metres an hour

720 cubic metres a day

35,000 cubic metres a year

between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.
The application is to renew these terms. The different terms are to reinstate an abstraction point, a borehole at National Grid Reference: TM 45370 76450 which lapsed from the licence in 2022. Abstraction will be authorised for the same purpose, period and volumes specified.
