A second known Daesh terrorist was positively identified by the crew of an RAF remotely piloted aircraft patrolling north of Hama in Syria on Sunday 28 September. He was carefully tracked as he moved around both on a motorcycle and on foot, and when a suitable opportunity presented itself, was successfully engaged by our aircraft and the terrorist was killed without any risk being posed to civilians.

On Thursday 4 September 2025, during a reconnaissance patrol over Syria by a Royal Air Force remotely piloted aircraft, its crew positively identified a known Daesh terrorist getting into a car near Aleppo. The RAF crew tracked the vehicle, and once they had satisfied themselves that there was no risk posed to any civilians, they conducted a successful engagement which destroyed the car and eliminated the target.

Royal Air Force aircraft continue to conduct armed reconnaissance patrols over Syria to counter Daesh terrorism threats, ready to strike such targets should they be identified.

On Tuesday 25 February, a remotely-piloted Reaper aircraft tracked a known Daesh terrorist in the Aleppo Governate of north-west Syria. The Reaper’s crew kept a close watch on the individual: when he was seen alone on foot, and could be struck with minimal risk to any civilians, they successfully targeted the terrorist using the Reaper’s Hellfire missile system.
