Information request:
The number of trade mark and designs owners that received comparable UKTM and UK design registrations (from EU registrations, 1 January 2021, in line with the Brexit withdrawal agreement) and have opted out from having a comparable registration.
To support that data, the number of UKTM and UK design comparable registrations that have been created (where they haven’t been opted out).
In other words, the number of UK comparable trade marks and designs created, and the number opted out.
Information released:
The IPO does not yet hold complete information on the cloned number of UKTM and UK design comparable registrations. We can provide you with the current opt-out figures, but not the full total of cloned cases as the process is still not complete. Our best estimate of a completion date is 20 or 21 February [2021] but the date has already slipped at least twice.
As for the opt out figures :– trade marks = 58, designs = 54. (Information correct at 22 January 2021.)
