Bouygues-Murphy Joint Venture (an un-incorporated partnership between J. Murphy & Sons Limited and Bouygues Travaux Publics) has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Thames at National Grid Reference TQ 68687 76099 to transfer it via a self-regulating tidal inlet to maintain water levels within a wetland system at Coalhouse Point, Tilbury which is being developed as habitat mitigation for the Lower Thames Crossing Project. The water will then be returned to the River Thames via either Bowater’s sluice or the inlet without intervening use.
