The annual report includes updates on:

  • development of a set of high-level ethical principles
  • retention of DNA profiles, fingerprints and custody images from convicted persons
  • the custody images review
  • recommendations regarding the oversight of biometric data in Scotland
  • advice on the use of live facial recognition
  • assessment of requirements for use of Y-STR profiling
