This strategy is built around a shared vision that transport will work well for people: it will be safe, reliable, affordable and accessible so people can get on in life and make the journeys they need to easily.
Better Connected sets out 3 principles that will underpin what we do and how we do it in transport:
putting people at the heart of everything we do
using transport to create better-connected places
working in partnership with local leaders and experts
It also sets out 8 priorities, informed by what people and stakeholders told us matter most to them:
simplify payments and information
provide dependable and safe journeys
make travel accessible and affordable
create healthier communities
align transport and development
champion data and technology
empower local leaders
optimise decision-making and appraisal
The strategy also sets out a monitoring and evaluation plan to ensure we meet our commitments and demonstrate progress towards better transport.
