A copy of the letter to Bedford Chief Executive, Laura Church, from James Blythe, Deputy Director, Local Government Stewardship and Interventions, in response to the Inspectors’ Best Value Inspection report published 15 October 2026.
The letter sets out the findings of the report, the proposed statutory intervention package under section 15 of the Local Government Act 1999, including the appointment of Commissioners, and invites representations on the proposal. All representations received on or before 28 October 2026 will be considered before ministers make their decision.
