The Bedford Best Value Inspectors submitted their Best Value Inspection report to the Department in June 2026. The report notes some strengths within the Council, including within partnership working, and also notes some steps taken in response to external challenge. However, it documents serious concerns across a number of areas which ministers consider amount to failings by the Council of its Best Value Duty under Part 1 of the Local Government Act 1999.
