One year on from the publication of the Small Business Plan, the government has made progress across a range of measures to help small and medium-sized businesses start, scale and grow.

This update sets out the main achievements so far and highlights action taken to:

• remove the barriers that businesses face
• enable more firms to access finance
• support high street businesses and the everyday economy
• future-proof business skills
• open up new opportunities for businesses
