Details of the application
AWE PLC has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from the underground strata comprising of the Silchester Gravel Member at National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 59446 64352 near Aldermaston, Reading to transfer it to the unnamed stream at NGR SU 59434 64360 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 165 cubic metres an hour
- 500 cubic metres a day
- 46,000 cubic metres a year
- All year round.
