Birth certificates

Births must be registered within one year of birth. The State Civil Act Registration agency will:

  • issue a birth certificate

  • re-issue a birth certificate if an error is found

Hospital notification records name both parents and are given to the parents.

Marriage certificates

There are both religious and civil marriage certificates in Armenia.

A civil marriage is automatically registered, and a marriage certificate is issued.

Religious marriages are not automatically registered. If a couple have a religious marriage, they are given a religious certificate, but it is not registered with the State Civil Act Registration agency unless the couple contacts them.

Death certificates

All deaths in Armenia must be registered within 3 days after the person has died. Death certificates are issued by the State Civil Act Registration agency.

Identity documents

Identity cards were introduced in June 2012 for Armenia nationals, and these are issued by individual states.
