Approved tachograph centre special notice 02-22

The European Commission has now formally approved 6 seal providers for use with 1C Smart Tachograph calibrations.

Within the UK the following organisations have been approved to supply the following 1C approved seals:

  • Continental
  • Royal Pack
  • Encompass
  • Precintia
  • Phoenix
  • Precintia and ACME
  • Skillray
  • Royal Pack and Unisto

These seals now have the raised “T” Logo on them to identify as approved seals.

As previously stated in Special notice 01-22 From 1 March 2022, no other seal, by any other seal provider can be used for 1C tachograph calibrations.

There is no requirement to retrofit any current 1C calibrations with the new approved seals as they will be valid until the next calibration after 1 March 2022.

2. Continued use of non approved 1C seals

From 1 March 2022, only formally approved seals must be used for 1C Smart Tachograph calibrations.

However, Approved Tachograph Centres can continue to use their stock of non-approved 1C seals on all digital yachograph (1B) and analogue tachograph calibrations after 1 March 2022 as the seals for these tachographs, are not covered by the new 1C legislation.

3. Remote mandatory quality control checks

Skillray have been approved to undertake remote quality control checks using the Optimo programmer. Further details are available from Skillray.

4. Skillray equipment update: low speed rollers

Skillray have had the following low speed tachograph calibration add ons for roller brake testers (RBT) formally approved:

  • part no 9600-12ST: Tacho add on kit for VLT 16733 and 20733 RBTs
  • part no 9600-023ST: Tacho add on kit for all BM Autoteknik RBTs
