Approved tachograph centre special notice 01-24

Published 16 April 2024

Applies to England, Scotland and Wales

1. Annual fee renewal

In October 2023 the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) sent all approved tachograph centres the £148.00 fee renewal notice for 2024.

Approved tachograph centres are reminded that fee renewals for the continued authority to calibrate tachographs must be paid by 31 January 2024.

Failure to meet this payment deadline may result in the approved tachograph centre being removed from the tachograph calibration scheme without further notice.

Email tachosection@dvsa.gov.uk to arrange payment.

2. Annex 1C tachograph centres

DVSA records show approximately 160 tachograph centres have still not applied for Annex 1C status. This means they should not be calibrating vehicles registered after 15 June 2019.

DVSA may take action against any centres completing calibrations on vehicles without the required authority. This may include prosecution and/or disciplinary action being taken.

Check to ensure your centre has the required authority to complete Annex 1C calibrations by checking your issued GV209 certificate, which should state under section 2:

The approved workshop shall at all times comply with the terms and conditions of approval appropriate to a standard(*) centre set out overleaf, and is approved to work on the following types of tachograph systems:-

ANALOGUE (*)

DIGITAL Annex 1b (*)

DIGITAL Annex 1c (*)

If you do not have “DIGITAL Annex 1c” listed on your GV209, you may not be authorised to complete these calibrations.

If not contact tachosection@dvsa.gov.uk to arrange for the uplift to occur.

See approved tachograph centre special notice 03-19 for Annex 1C uplift requirements.

3. Amended DVSA notices

Tachograph centres are reminded that they are not under any circumstances permitted to amend any DVSA notices, including GV213s, GV209s or any other documentation issued by DVSA. All notices are issued by DVSA and are considered official documents.

Any changes to these documents will need the updating of records at DVSA, so any requests must be forwarded to tachosection@dvsa.gov.uk

Manipulation of data on official documents may result in prosecution and/or disciplinary action being taken.
