Apply to become an AI Factory Antenna: privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will use your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

The purpose for which we are processing your personal data is to assess expressions of interest in becoming the UK applicant to EuroHPC’s call for AI Factory Antennas.  

For the purposes of the UK GDPR, The Department for Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT) are the Data Controller.

1. Your data

We will collect and process the following personal data:

  • Lead contact name, contact details and role
  • Organisation name(s)

2. Purpose

The purposes for which we are processing your personal data are:

  • To assess expressions of interest and make a decision on which entity will be endorsed by the UK government to apply to EuroHPC’s call for AI Factory Antennas.
  • To contact the organisation’s Lead about their submission.

The legal basis for processing your personal data under Article 6 of the UK GDPR is:

1(e) Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller. This task is to identify the entity which will be endorsed by the UK government to apply to an external call (run by EuroHPC) to establish an AI Factory Antenna and potentially receive grant funding from the UK government.

4. Recipients

Information collected via the EOI may be shared with UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) and with external subject matter experts for the purposes of assessing the applications, however we will not share the personal details of Lead contacts with these parties.  

As part of our IT infrastructure, your personal data will be stored on systems provided by our data processors – Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. This does not mean we actively share your personal data with these entities; rather, they are technical service providers who host infrastructure supporting out IT systems.

5. Retention

We will retain copies of EOIs for 3 years, in line with our records retention policy. However, we will remove personal details of Lead contacts from these EOIs after 6 months.

6. Automated decision making

  Your personal data will not be subject to automated decision making.

7. International Transfers

Personal data will not be transferred outside the UK.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal data is processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • request that any incomplete personal data is completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for it to be processed
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted
  • object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes.

10. Complaints

If this privacy notice changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we will share it with other parties. The ‘last updated’ date at the bottom of this page will also change.
