We were asked for information about the potential for a wind energy manufacturing facility on land formerly occupied by Anglesey Aluminium.
Specifically,
- on which dates did discussions between the manufacturer or manufacturers and Peter Hain regarding the former Anglesey Aluminium site take place? What was discussed? Please provide the agenda and/or minutes of these meetings
- are discussions still ongoing between the manufacturer or manufacturers and the Wales Office regarding this project?
- did Mr Peter Hain personally contact GE? If so, on which dates did phone calls or meetings take place?
A meeting took place on 10 December 2009 between the then Secretary of State for Wales, the Rt. Hon. Peter Hain MP, and a delegation sponsored by Albert Owen MP. A note of this meeting is attached.
I can confirm that the Wales Office has since met the manufacturers involved, and that discussions on a variety of potential wind energy projects are ongoing.
