Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) Enviro200 and Enviro300 buses: safety concerns

Updated 17 May 2019

1. Overview

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has recently identified a number of safety concerns with the suspension of Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) Enviro200 and Enviro300 buses.

This does not apply to Enviro200 MMC and Enviro300 MMC model buses.

Under DVSA’s oversight, ADL is now working urgently towards solving those issues.

ADL has implemented a number of measures to make technical improvements to the vehicles shortly. They are writing to operators with the details.

DVSA’s priority is to protect everyone from unsafe drivers and vehicles. So, DVSA has recommended that vehicle operators carry out a series of frequent safety inspections to make sure their buses are safe to use.

2. What bus operators need to do

DVSA has written to bus operators with details of inspections to carry out.

Operators need to:

  • continue with these inspections until ADL rectification work is done
  • report the findings of their inspections to DVSA
  • check all communications from ADL to make sure that modifications to vehicles can be made as quickly as possible
