Details

In the 2025 spring term, Ofsted investigated how 21 ‘early adopter’ schools and further education (FE) colleges were using artificial intelligence (AI). This report:

  • sets out our findings from interviews with leaders responsible for introducing AI
  • summarises background literature related to the findings

The findings provide insights into how leaders navigate the challenges of AI and what they see as the benefits of using it. They also highlight gaps in knowledge about how AI may hinder education providers from using it effectively to improve educational outcomes.

This research was commissioned by the Department for Education.
