Quantum computers have the potential to transform the financial sector by unlocking powerful new capabilities and opportunities. However, this advancement also introduces significant risks: sufficiently advanced quantum computers could compromise widely used cryptographic protocols that safeguard systems and data. The G7 CEG’s roadmap highlights key considerations for financial sector stakeholders, authorities, and industry regarding the cryptographic risks posed by quantum computing.
