Update (20 April 2023)
The following text has been added to paragraph 21.8 of the Advanced Research and Invention (ARIA) framework agreement: “ARIA will have regard to its projects contributing to the UK’s climate change targets and environmental goals, without prejudice to ARIA’s freedoms set out in section 3 of this document.”
ARIA is an independent research body, designed to fund high-risk, high-reward scientific research. It was legally established in January 2023.
The framework document sets out the broad framework within which ARIA will operate, and its relationship with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
