Accessing the flu vaccine strategic reserve in England

This publication was withdrawn on 8 September 2016

This publication contained specific information for the 2014 to 2015 annual flu programme which has now been superseded. See the Annual flu programme for information on this year’s programme.

PHE holds a strategic reserve of around 400,000 doses of inactivated trivalent influenza vaccine for use in England in the 2014 to 2015 flu season.

The strategic reserve is held in the event that the uptake of flu vaccine exceeds that which was expected and stock is no longer available through the conventional supply chains, directly from vaccine suppliers.

This document describes the circumstances under which the national flu vaccine strategic reserve will be made available to the NHS in England and how these vaccines can be ordered through ImmForm.
