Government departments are required to review their arm’s length bodies at least once every three years to challenge whether the functions they perform are still necessary and if so whether it is still appropriate for them to be delivered in the same way.

This review by the Department for Work and Pensions identified and examined the key functions of the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC). It also investigated whether or not the IIAC is operating in line with principles of good corporate governance.
