Details

School Direct is a new programme proposed in the Department for Education’s 2001 initial teacher training (ITT) strategy paper. It allows schools, or groups of schools, to apply to the Teaching Agency (TA) to be able to offer an ITT place, which they then work with an accredited ITT provider to deliver.

School Direct is intended to help schools take a leading role in ITT and priority will be given to subjects with the greatest need.
