We have received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:

The number of those arrested in London, England between 24rd May 2011 and 28th May 2011 which led to charges and the number of those arrests attributed to football-related violence or football hooliganism.

We released the following information on 28 February 2012.

The Metropolitan Police Service police operation for the match reported 36 arrests. It is not possible for us to quantify definitively which of these were football-related; however 24 of the 36 arrests were for offences listed in Schedule 1 to the Football Spectators Act 1989 (which may subsequently attract a football banning order).

Six of the 24 arrests resulted in charges. A variety of sentences and preventative measures were imposed, including 4 football banning orders, curfew requirements with and without electronic tags, compensation, victim surcharges and costs. A further 6 individuals were cautioned and one Penalty Notice for Disorder issued.
