The fire service emergency cover toolkit is a suite of software, provided by the government, free of charge, to UK fire and rescue authorities. The software is a geographical information based risk assessment toolkit that enables fire and rescue authorities to align local risks and resources on a cost-beneficial basis. The software considers the risks from fires and a range of non-fire “special services” such as road traffic collisions, together with the available resources, such as fire appliances to make predictions for life and property losses.
The analysis in this report draws upon recent data from DCLG’s incident recording system to update the statistical relationships in the fire service emergency cover toolkit. These updates will be of interest to fire service emergency cover operators within fire and rescue authorities.
