We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
Please could I be told, for each of the past two years, the total cost to your department of flights which were booked but not subsequently used for travel. Could I also be told the number of such flight bookings in each year.
The following information was released on 9th June 2011

Number of flight bookings which attracted cancellation fee costs

Please note that charges for the majority of cancelled flights were fully refunded. The only cost to the Department was for those flight bookings where cancellation fees were charged.
